Permanent loss of body fat requires a permanent life change, including adoption of a diet simple enough to maintain the rest of our lives, yet varied enough to prevent us from feeling deprived. Strengthening the mind is required to carry your short term success into the long term. Education regarding the science and psychology of our dietary choices includes a sobering perspective on our culture’s view of us as Consumers. Mis-information in advertising is rampant, and it seems we can’t escape the endless onslaught of new flavors and textures provided by the processed food industry. New definitions of food are needed. You will get evidence-based information on foodstuffs which must be avoided, as they contribute to compulsive eating and unhealthy habit formation. Consistency over time will bring success. We will work with you and prepare you for the inevitable plateaus and pitfalls so commonly encountered after short-term successful weight loss. Proper diet combined with good sleep, whatever exercise you can muster, and a few good tricks are all you need for success.

Nutrition
We will guide you in creating an individualized eating plan based on whole foods that is realistic for you to apply to your unique everyday lifestyle and dietary needs. Whole foods are vegetables, fruits, meat, eggs, whole grains, nuts, seeds and other products of nature in their original and recognizable form. Our philosophy of eating is based on simplicity, going back to nature, and being consistent over time. These are the foods our bodies were designed to eat. The practice of eating real foods and avoidance of addictive, processed foodstuffs will allow your body to shed the unnecessary pounds and maintain a weight that is healthy for your body.
Fitness
We will help you discover work out methods that you will actually enjoy, that are most beneficial to your body and fit appropriately with your current fitness level. With the guidance of our fitness instructor, Sallie Vaaler, and support counselors, you will be able to more effectively incorporate physical fitness into your every day lifestyle and remain inspired to maintain an exercise routine that will support your weight loss goals.
Mindfulness
We teach awareness and promote consistency beyond completion of our program. With the guidance of our mindfulness training, you will acquire the skills you need to form healthy habits. Awareness of your food and exercise choices throughout your day will result in sustainable weight loss results and improved health. This mindfulness training will guide you in creating healthy nutrition and exercise habits that are realistic for you to maintain in your daily life and over a long period of time.
Stress
Our program emphasizes the importance of decreasing stress through the practice of gratitude, mindfulness, and restoration of balance across different aspects of your lifestyle. With the guidance of our support counselors we will aid you in discovering the most effective methods to reducing your daily stress. This will enhance your ability to make beneficial food, exercise and lifestyle choices that will support your weight loss goals.
Sleep
A tired distracted mind will result in a multitude of poor eating and lifestyle choices that can dramatically impact your health and well-being. Improvement in your quality of sleep will allow your well rested mind to make healthy food and lifestyle choices throughout your day with a basis of mindfulness and attention. Consistently enhancing your sleep will aid you in good decision making and beneficial habit formation, ultimately supporting your weight loss goals.
